THE UNMAILED LETTER

I just found this letter draft today which  i made 2 years ago ….

Dear readers;

March 10, 2006

This is one way which i know i can help my foster sister. I call her foster sister because she was 3 years old when she joined our family. Her name is Leveriza Navarro and she’s now 17 years old. Her mother once worked for Velasco family in Mandaluyong City, got pregnant at 18 years old and bore Leveriza, named after, Levi Velasco the father and the son of her employer who was at his 20’s that time when it happened..

then  her mother came and worked for us for 6 years (1992-1998), within these years she got pregnant again and we adopted the second child who is now 13 years old.

Since the mother got married with a fisherman she entrusted her 2 daughters to us for good reasons.. at present my parents send them to school and like our own sisters we cared and loved them both.

But this letter is about Leveriza who for 2 years now is struggling for her life. She has been admitted 2x to intensive care unit here in Davao Medical center, a government hospital, on 2005  and then this year again 2006. Her history record shows that she had an aunt who died with leukemia 2 years ago, and a grandmother with the same diseased 3 years ago. But Davao Medical Doctors diagnosed her with a problem in her blood. Not specifically leukemia.  And samples of her blood was sent to Manila medical center,and the result was unknown. Her body cannot accept blood transfusion to rid off the unclean blood she has. since then shes maintaining drugs prescribed by the doctor to keep her body stronger everyday. Months passed shes fine again only she’s got these bad side effects to her skin. Her fined skin got allergies and now she has a terrible skin , like rashes all over her body.

But just this week the agony struck her again. When she got the chest xray result, a small amount of water was seen in her lungs. Then later at home she got head ache, and then a fever. She was vomiting gradually. And at this very moment she is still having a high fever, her nose bleeds and what we’re trying to do is just keeping her body temperature low down a little by cold compression.

We are all worried. We need financial assistance. Her mother came from her hometown, Sta.Cruz, Davao Del Sur without any cash.  And now she’s also asking for help. My mother right now was retired from her job. And have no extra money to finance Leveriza’s ordeal anytime at this day because we will send her again to emergency room in Medical center.

Her mother was rejected by the local council in their hometown for she had once got assistance already from them last year when leveriza was also admitted. Hoping that from this letter I can also help Leveriza fight for her life! With your great help too you can save her life. Please reply to this letter A.S.A.P to communicate with us on how you can send your assistance to Leveriza.

Thank you from the bottom of our heart. May He continue to abound you with joy and peace and abundance in life. God bless you all. attached here is Leveriza’s pix with her sister last December. Leveriza is wearing santa hat.

- the saddest part -  Leveriza died on May 2006 diagnosed with Lupus disease, a month after I made this letter .
